Walls of Ice
Now you might have started to think that Señor Hans has gone totally completely delusional, thinking he is a dashing space captain/explorer soaring through the universe to do reckless things and save damsels in distress ... but I can assure you, I am still the same old only half-delusional (call it fantasy-rich) Señor Hans, tempting Fate in his usual not-reckless-at-all (ahem) way.
And, also as usual, Fate is playing along quite nicely. Closing in on my greatly anticipated Torres del Paine trek here near Puerto Natales, my old fencing injury, the infamous Right Knee, has started playing up again. Grrrr ... I overdid the trek around the Monte Fitzroy and must suffer the consequences apparently. I hope a day or two of rest will appease you, oh mighty Fate ...
Then I make a sarcastic remark about Swedish women in my blog and next thing you know a pair of them is thrown into my path
(the first ones I see in South America - and cute ones too), playing around with me as usual. I could hear Fate chuckling in the background.
Don't worry for my safety and sanity. They have gone already. Visiting glaciers with Señor Hans for a day and then watching him eat pizza and ice cream, is enough for the swee(d)tests girls to turn tail.
Anyway, back to matters at hand, these glaciers around El Calafate are pretty impressive, with the one named 'Perito Moreno' as the big star.
Unpassable Walls of Ice, kilometers wide and as high as 20 storey buildings. Someone with a bit of fantasy might see a sign in it.
Thankfully I had no time for that, being too busy eating the famously fingerlicking Patagonian 'Cordero Asado', the roasted lamb ... these Argentinians really know their meat. Again, it was very good.
Oh, and before I forget. Although I`m now again in Chile, the glacier trips were in Argentina and I still owed the ladies an Argentinian hunk. Well, I found him ... I present you Frederico, the on-board photographer for the Upsala glacier boat tour (start the high-pitch screaming):
